Boys High School Rugby into Regional Finals

E-mail Print PDF

Best of luck to the Hants East Tigers Boys' Rugby team as they prepare to take on the North Nova Gryphons in the Northumberland Region Championship match.  The winner of this game will advance onto the NSSAF provincial tournament to be hosted at King's-Edgehill School from 31 May to 2 June.

The regional final will take place at the Enfield Lion's Den on Thursday 23 May at 5:00pm.  Come on out and give the Tigers your support!  Dig out whatever old (potentially really old) HERH kit you have, or don some Enfield RFC colours and head down to the Lion's Den to make some noise!

A big congratulations is also in order to the HERH Tigers Girls' rugby team who had one of the strongest seasons on record and played some truly entertaining rugby.  The girls fell to in a hotly contested road-playoff game to North Nova on 21 May to close out the season.  Excellent effort throughout the year girls.

Dartmouth 7's

The Enfield RFC had a solid outing at the Dartmouth 7's this afternoon.  In a day that would have been best spent inside with a glass of wine and a good book, the Enfield guys and girls set to the Burnside Turf for a fun-filled day of sevens rugby in the rain, sleet, rain, cold, and more rain.

The guys were victorious in their two round-robin match-ups against King's College and Riverlake and were eliminated from the competition by the Halifax Tars in the semi-finals.  The women's team (along with some bolstering of numbers from neighbouring club Riverlake) put in a hard-fought loss to start the day against Halifax RFC and then convincingly beat the host Lady Pigdogs to secure a playoff spot.  The girls lost to a very strong Valley Bulldogs in the semi-final.  Although the club sustained a few injuries throughout the day including Evan Dickie and Jeremy Loney (both lower body) and Ashton Parker (4 stitches in the mouth), the tournament was a success as far as getting out, shaking the rust off, and getting very cold and wet.

The next Enfield RFC action is at indoor training next Friday night, followed closely thereafter by the THRIFT SHOP party on Saturday night, 20 April at Curly Portables.
